LINDA CHIDO ART
COMMUNITY

Art is for all of us.
My community work is rooted in that simple truth. Whether I’m teaching adults with disabilities, bringing creativity into senior centers, or offering art experiences to veterans, my goal is always the same: to make art accessible, meaningful, and joyful for every person I meet.
This work is deeply personal to me. As a mother to children with medical needs and disabilities, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful the creative process can be. It builds confidence, connection, and a sense of self—and sometimes, it’s just plain fun. That’s why I choose to show up for these communities again and again.
Unlike my technique-based workshops, community classes aren’t about mastering a skill or producing something polished. They’re about the joy of making, the permission to explore, and the healing that happens when people feel safe and seen. I meet folks exactly where they are and create spaces where every voice matters and every mark has value.
Because when people feel safe to create, something beautiful always unfolds.
Here are some of the amazing organizations I work with to bring art into the community:
Art Spark Texas
Art Spark Texas challenges perceptions of how people contribute by creating an arts-inspired, inclusive community of individuals with and without disabilities. I’m proud to be part of their mission to ensure that arts experiences are accessible, welcoming, and empowering for all.

Inspired Minds Art Center
A vibrant local hub for the arts in Buda, Texas. Their mission is to support both local artists and the community by joining the two together to inspire a dialogue of creativity, passion, fine art, and a celebration of culture. I teach here regularly and love the heart and hustle this woman-owned space brings to the community.

Buda's Brightside
Brightside is a day-hab program for adults with disabilities that supports independent living and productivity in community inclusiveness. It’s a joy-filled place where learning, creativity, and self-expression are nurtured with care—and I’m grateful to bring art into their colorful world.

Austin Independent School District (AISD)
Each summer, I work with AISD programs that support children and teens with disabilities through Art Spark Texas. From collaborative art projects to hands-on exploration, my goal is to offer a creative outlet that encourages self-expression, builds confidence, and meets students where they are.
Learn
Many of the projects I've created with my students in the community are available in the Learn for Educators section of my website. I’m always adding new projects and lessons, so check back often—or better yet, sign up for my newsletter, Fresh Brushstrokes, to get updates delivered straight to your inbox when new projects are added.
Perspectives on Art and Impact
At the heart of everything I do—whether in the classroom, studio, or community—is the belief that art matters. It uplifts, heals, and connects us. The articles below dive deeper into the vital role the arts play in our lives and our communities. From championing arts education to exploring how creative practice transforms the brain, these pieces reflect both the power of art and the urgency of supporting it.
If my work resonates with you, I’d be honored to hear from you. Whether you're interested in a workshop, a commissioned painting, a class for your organization, or just want to spread the word, your support makes a difference.
It helps me keep showing up—for the art, the students, and the community.
